1964 - Tokyo

Introduction
Olympics
The first Asian Games saw as a symbol of peace a torch carrier who had been born on the day the atomic bomb fell on Hiroshima. The first Fair Play Trophy was also awarded to the Swedish yachtsmen who gave up a race to help two competitors whose boat had sunk.
Paralympics Funds for hosting these Games were raised through donations from a range of Japanese organisations, and an amazing 375 athletes from 21 counties participated. The USA took the most medals although Great Britain had the most athletes.
