2008 - Beijing

Introduction
Olympics Beijing saw a staggering 40 world records and 130 Olympic records broken, with swimmer Michael Phelps and runner Usain Bolt stealing the show. Bolt broke both the 100 meter and 200 meter world records and won a third gold medal with the relay team!
Paralympics Just under 4000 athletes competed across 20 sports and 472 events in Beijing. China won an amazing 89 gold medals, with Great Britain coming second in the medal table with 42. An impressive 279 new world records were also set!
